Santerno has supplied 20 inverters to the Chinese company Guodian, one of the major national state-controlled electric companies. The plant is based in Qinghai at the remarkable altitude of 2850 m asl; the area is desolate and wild and is subject to strong solar radiation throughout the year. Therefore, the plant must be able to operate under such adverse weather conditions and requires robust inverters capable of withstanding the most extreme working conditions. Santerno has taken the challenge and has supplied N.18 Sunway™ TG 730 inverters and N. 2 Sunway™ TG 750 inverters.
The solar power station in Golmud was first commissioned last summer and will take several construction stages. 20MW have been installed to date and additional 30MW will be installed soon. The third step of the project, dealing with the installation of additional 50 MW, will start within 2012. Once complete, the PV plant will be one of the largest plants in China.
The five-year plan (2011-2015) launched by the State Council envisages the overall installation of 10GW in China, thus redoubling the national photovoltaic industry capability.
